"If the public space is living room of people, in city, main ingredient is quality; you can't make space with buildings alone."
"Designer should facilitate"
"Atlas is a tool to stimulate visual dialogue. Designer can use as a medium catalogue of oportunities for collective discussions: Building relations"
"Not designing public space but designing processes"
Refers to cultural heritage of city as an essential notion of urban life
Designer designs for making interactions and new experiences to make possible among people. So that a cultural identity can be build up
Atlas offers a collection of real stories and insights besides simple boundaries that were drawn on map. It feels like a collective revolt to colonial past and international regulations.
I think, to be in such a service like this, designers should minimize their identity and complexity so that most convenient approach can be built in a simplistic way.
"Cinema as a stimulation of conversations"
"Is that allowed?"
"Don't wait for artist residency or sponsorship. Get on the way with sheer enthusiasm"
Public space has been taken away from public people by law enforcement. Every single legal procedure retract us from direct interaction with each other. Culture is social aspect of human nature.
I appreciate Elly's individual initiative. Starting with her naive intentions at the outset, she were able explore and apply her own method to spatial design. Features social aspect of design while questioning legal authorities and commercialism at the same time.
I think, cinema is a perfect tool for constructing reality. Visual and auditory elements creates emotional response while narrative (or non-narrative) stories were being told. Unlike movie theater's, audience knows each other in this project. Elly uses this tool in neighborhood to stimulate conversations, idea exchange and to share their personal take on between them.
